Getting from the new Istanbul airport to the city center will become easier

Subway line leading to the new Istanbul airport will open on January 22

A subway line leading to Istanbul’s new airport is scheduled to open on Jan. 22, Turkey’s Transport and Infrastructure Minister Adil Karaismailoglu said Friday.

“The Kagithane – Istanbul Airport line will be opened in the presence of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan,” the minister said.

According to Karaismailoglu, the fastest trains in all of Turkey will be launched on the route – their speed will reach 120 kilometers per hour. Thus, it will be possible to reach the airport from Kagithane district in the north of Istanbul in 24 minutes.

The M11 branch line will connect a number of districts of the city with the air harbor, the section from Cagithane will be launched in the first place. A total of three stations are planned at the airport.

From Russia, flights of Aeroflot, as well as Turkish airlines arrive to Istanbul air hub.
